People Planet Profit

The Rabobank Group has been ranked fourth in an international survey of corporate sustainability reporting. The Rabobank Group's Annual Sustainability Report 2005 scored particularly well on the issue of integration of sustainability into the strategy of the company.

The survey is carried out bi-annually as a collaborative effort between the financial rating agency Standard & Poor's, the United Nations Environment Programme and SustainAbility, am independent CSR think-tank. The survey looks at the reports of one hundred internationally active companies.

In the Global Reporters 2006 Survey of Corporate Sustainability Reporting, the first three places were all claimed by British enterprises: British Telecom, Co-operative Financial Services and British Petroleum. The top fifty includes a further four Dutch multinationals, i.e.: Shell (7th), Philips (12th), ABN Amro (15th) and DSM (34th).

Mark Lee, chief executive of SustainAbility, views the fourth placing of the Rabobank Group as "an important result and a strong indication of Rabobank's world position when it comes to sustainability reporting. Earlier this year, it was announced that the Rabobank Group's 2004 Annual Sustainability Report had won the European Sustainability Reporting Award (ESRA).
