Stakeholder dialogue
It is time for NGOs and companies to recognise and utilise each other’s specific and unique strengths as well as work together to address weaknesses. Rabobank is actively pursuing strategies that encourage and facilitate this kind of cooperation. One such strategy is the ‘multi-stakeholder dialogue’.
A multi-stakeholder dialogue brings together relevant stakeholders from the production chain or sector. Tackling issues collectively fosters mutual trust and increases everyone’s chances of finding better and more sustainable solutions.
Rabobank deploys a number of tools that facilitate the stakeholder dialogue. Some of our most important tools are:
- Position papers that present Rabobank’s vision, objectives and policy on various issues.
- Sector policy documents that are intended primarily for internal use. These documents provide a clear overview of key issues in a given sector and establish criteria for assessing these issues within the context of financial services.
- Case studies that provide strong overviews of CSR issues
- A knowledge map that clearly indicates which NGOs are involved with which issues and who our specialists at Rabobank are that focus on those issues.
- Stakeholder interviews, conducted with representatives of NGOs, government agencies, customer organisations and research agencies regarding their expectations concerning our sustainability reporting and underlying CSR policy.
