2008

  • Rabobank's Sustainability Report 2007 rankes first among 150 reports in the Transparency Benchmark Survey 2007 conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers by order of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.  

2007

  • Fleet & Business Magazine grants the European Green Fleet Innovation Award to Rabobank in recognition of its innovative, sustainable mobility programme.
  • WWF grants the WWF Company Award 2007 to Rabobank is recognition of the successful cooperation between the two business partners. 

2006

  • Rabobank in the Netherlands and WWF introduce a credit card with CO2 compensation. The card has been available since February 2007. This is the start of a three-year cooperation agreement between Rabobank and the World Wildlife Federation.
  • Rabobank's Sustainability Report 2005 rankes 4th in the Global Reporters 2006 survey. The survey is carried out bi-annually as a collaborative effort between Standard & Poor's, the United Nations Environment Programme and SustainAbility. The full survey is in the download section.        

2005

  • Rabobank signs an agreement with FSC Netherlands. According to this agreement, Rabobank will only use paper that has received the FSC quality mark for envelopes, bank statements, stationery and copier paper. This means that 80% of all paper consumed by the organisation bears the FSC quality mark.
  • Swiss Sustainable Asset Management Group (SAM), the leading international rating agency in the field of sustainability, for a second time rates the Rabobank Group the best sustainable bank in Europe and the second best sustainable bank worldwide. Compared with the other 32 large banks on the Dow Jones Global Index assessed by SAM, only one other bank, Westpac Banking Corp scores higher.   
  • Rabobank Group’s Sustainability Report 2004 wins the European Sustainability Reporting Award 2005. The report is nominated for the European prize after winning, in a national competition, the ACC Award.  The (internet) report was praised by the jury for its accessibility, clarity and completeness.         

2004

  • Rabobank provides financing for the first public/private joint venture in sustainable water management, facilitating the construction of a water purification plant in Harnaschpolder.  
  • The Rabobank Foundation, which provides assistance to people who are economically or socially underprivileged, celebrates its 30th anniversary.          

2003

  • The leading Swiss rating agency SAM rates Rabobank Group the best sustainable bank in Europe and the second best sustainable bank worldwide.
  • Rabobank receives the Royal Award for Responsible Investment 2003 from the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and the Copenhagen-based Royal Awards for Sustainability Foundation.         

2002

  • The Global Compact of the United Nations is signed. The Global Compact includes ten fundamental principles relating to human rights, labour law and environmental protection, all aimed at making globalisation more just and socially responsible. 
  • Rabobank finances the world's largest solar roof at the Floriade Green Trade Center at the Floriade world horticultural exhibition.         

2001

  • The leading Swiss rating agency SAM (Sustainable Asset Management Group) assesses Rabobank's sustainability. Rabobank's scores a relativley high 64%, proving its sustainability-orientation.
  • Of the 45 reports submitted, Rabobank's 2000 Responsibility and Sustainability Report wins first prize in the ACC Award category "Best Dutch-language Social Report".         

2000

  • Rabo Groen Bank B.V. is established as a new green financing institution.        

1999

  • Sustainability is included in Rabobank Group's mission statement and code of conduct.
  • The internal 1998 Rabobank Group annual sustainability report is published.        

1998

  • The Sustainable Development corporate group is established.
  • The internal1997 Rabobank Group annual sustainability report is published.        

1997

  • Rabobank is the first large Dutch bank to sign the UNEP declaration.        

1996

  • The Sustainable Development Team is established within the Corporate Strategy Group.
