Energy
The Rabobank Group pursues an active policy aimed at promoting the use of sustainable energy. The organisation is also dedicated to reducing current energy consumption as much as possible.
The Rabobank Group has finalised a master contract for its Dutch branches for the purchase of green electricity and biogas. This electricity is generated by Dutch wind turbines in order to promote the production of sustainable energy in the Netherlands. Green electricity accounts for 73% of the electricity consumed by the Rabobank Group. In the Netherlands, we furthermore use 100% biogas generated through the fermentation of waste in Dutch landfills. This makes Rabobank the Netherlands’ largest purchaser of biogas.
Monitoring systems spot and correct anomalies in energy consumption. Almost all Rabobank branch offices already participate in the energy savings programme. This makes it possible to identify any anomalies in energy consumption and take action accordingly.
Various local member banks utilise green financing to apply sustainable energy technologies: these include energy-conscious options such as heat pumps, subterranean cold and heat storage and sun panels.
