World Wildlife Fund
Rabobank works nationally and internationally with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Both parties signed a global partnership agreement on 30 March 2011. Rabobank and the WWF will co-operate in various regions of the world and will jointly develop activities in the Dutch market.
The WWF and Rabobank have already worked in partnership in the past. An example of this co-operation is the Dutch Greentech Fund that was launched in late 2009 in association with the WWF, Delft University of Technology and Wageningen University. The fund invests in high-potential Dutch techno start-ups that produce innovative technologies or processes that enhance the sustainability of the chain from raw material to end product. The fund focuses on agriculture, food production, water, air and bio-energy and adheres to stringent sustainability criteria. Rabobank and the WWF are joining forces internationally in the field of making food & agri production chains more sustainable.
Rabobank and the WWF teamed up in late 2006 to work together to combat climate change. The initial result of this partnership was the introduction of the Rabocard with climate compensation in early 2007. In view of the urgency of the climate issue, Rabobank decided in late 2009 to shift the focus from CO2 compensation to CO2 reduction and to discontinue the Rabocard as of 1 January 2010.
