Rabo Agri Focus - Fresh fruit in Chile

Chile's export-oriented fresh fruit sector has experienced robust growth over the past decade. Export sales have increased with 67 percent to approximately USD 2 billion during the 2004/05 marketing year (September through August). Table grapes, apples and avocados are the leading fresh fruit exports in terms of value. Chile is well-positioned to continue supplying the major Northern Hemnisphere markets and a growing domestic market with high-quality fruit. The ongoing challenge will be to continue growing the global market for Chilean fresh fruit in a forward-thinking and sustainable way.
