Ger van Elk – In Memoriam
The artist Ger van Elk (73) is no longer among us. He was one of the most important representatives of Dutch conceptual art.
With kindred spirits as Jan Dibbets and Wim T. Schippers, he wrote a number of manifestos on conceptual art, an art variant where the idea principle prevails and not the form. Kindred spirits (– the ideas of 24 artists) was also the name of the previous collection exhibition in the Rabo Art Zone, in which some of his work was presented. The interview for the corresponding exhibition booklet was his last to be held (summer 2013), his words: “I am still full of ideas”.
