herman de vries - Venice Biennale
This year herman de vries represents The Netherlands with the exhibition 'to be all ways to be' at the Venice Biennale.
herman de vries, trained as a biologist and naturalist, he collects, organizes and shows objects from nature and thereby focus our attention on both the uniqueness and the diversity of the world around us. The Rabo Art Collection also has a work by de vries, journal de maroc (1999-2006), a work which is typical for him as an artist.
The exhibition at the Biennale is featured in both the Dutch (Rietveld) pavilion and on the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio. The title of the exhibition to be all ways to be, shows that the experience of and reflection on human existence has many divergent paths. Perceived by the eye, ear, nose and body are existing definitions and positions regarding the nature and culture questioned. The exhibition is made by curators Colin Huizing and Cees de Boer.
This year marks the 56th edition of the Venice Biennale and is held till November 22, 2015.
