New acquisition: Crisis of obedience (Janus) by Folkert de Jong
The art collection was recently expanded with the acquisition of the work 'Crisis of obedience (Janus)' (2015).
One particular work that can amaze, surprise and delight you. The works of De Jong are often life-size or contain mostly human figures formed from materials such as polyurethane and styrofoam. The influence of the history of conflict, war and politics runs like a thread through his work. Crisis of obedience (Janus) refers to the struggle of people in terms of their obedience and independence. Where are the limits how far you can go. A Janus face has two faces; one on the back of his head and one on the front. He represents the transition from old to the new, but also the contradictions in the world.
