Rabobank Foundation publishes Annual Report 2012
2012 was the UN Year of the Cooperative and Rabobank Foundation was among the major players in that sense, highlighting inspirational examples of international cooperation. 2012 also provided an opportunity to intensify links with the local Rabobanks and with Rabobank customers.
In its digital annual report, Rabobank Foundation renders account for its financial policies in 2012, using words and pictures to turn the spotlight on some noteworthy activities in the various focus countries. Rabobank Foundation supported over 200 projects during 2012. In an interview, managing director Pierre van Hedel said that there has been an increased appreciation for the work of the Foundation in recent years. "More and more often, local Rabobanks are getting involved in the Foundation's projects, both at home and abroad. In their turn, the banks inspire and encourage their customers to collaborate."
From dairy farmers in the provinces of Friesland and Groningen to large international enterprises such as FrieslandCampina and Mars, Rabobank customers can contribute to the Foundation's projects through the Customer Fund and they can also make their specialised knowledge and expertise available to the various projects. The promotion of self-reliance is a central theme in the work of the Foundation. Pierre van Hedel: "People are looking to us more and more in the entire debate about trade instead of aid, not only from a local, but also from a national and even international perspective. It is widely recognized that our method works."
