About our office
Our mission statement: To provide top quality services to all RI offices in a commercially beneficial environment with full responsibility for business booked in Curacao. Rabobank Curaçao was the first international office of Rabobank, opening October 25, 1978.
Started as an office with Trust, Private Banking and off-shore Booking of corporate activities for Rabobank Nederland. It was decided in 1997 to focus solely as a Service Center with off-shore Booking of corporate activities for the Latin American offices (i.e. Rabobank Argentina, Rabobank International Brasil S.A. , Rabobank Chile and Rabobank Mexico). The shift from commercial office to an office with a mainly internally-driven, service-oriented focus was fully implemented by the end of 2001. Rabobank Curaçao only operates as an off-shore banking unit within Rabobank International, limited by local laws from doing local business. Rabobank Curaçao is regulated and operates under the supervision of the Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles.
Currently the office is staffed with fourteen employees, most of whom have long-term experience working in the financial sector. We are organized in a way to maximize our flexibility in providing necessary services given the limited number of staff. Furthermore Rabobank Curaçao is the:
- seat of the Latin American Credit Committee (LACC);
- back-office for all Latin American offices with regards to their offshore facilities;
and - consolidating and reporting office for the Latin American Regional and Financial figures
We service the Latin American offices with respect to the abovementioned by means of:
- significant participation in the credit approval process for Latin American customers,
- country/customer risk assessments,
- management/head office reporting,
- funding activity,
- disbursement of facilities,
- booking of facilities/loans,
- settlement/clearing institution for the Latin American customers amongst others.
Practically all products from the Latin American offices can be serviced by Curaçao. As a service center, all business to be processed and booked by Rabobank Curaçao is the direct result of the commercial successes of the Latin American offices. The importance of close cooperation and short communication lines among Rabobank Curaçao, New York Branch as regional head-office and the Latin American offices can not be overstated.
Together with Rabobank Support Services Inc. and Regional Office Support, both situated in New Jersey, change management is being conducted on an organisational and Information Technology level. For the future we continue to strive together with these departments to create a highly cooperative, communicative, efficient and effective workforce servicing the Latin American offices in the best way possible.
