Taiwan Domestic Demand Basket
The new government's liberal economic policies are seen to be more aligned with growth opportunities and improvement in economic fundamentals. It is possible that this will lead to greater investor confidence and a pick-up in domestic consumption and retail sales growth. The New Taiwan Dollar (NTD) may continue to appreciate given that political tensions across the Straits have eased to a certain extent. Capital inflows into the domestic property market for residential and commercial projects are anticipated to be further accelerated. Developers with land reserves and project momentum could also expect to benefit. Furthermore, banks are likely to increase their fee-income potential and improve returns in the high-yield consumer finance business.
