The Canadian pork industry
In late 2006, the two largest pork processors in Canada, MLF and Olymel, announced significant restructuring plans in response to deteriorating margins and what was perceived to be declining international competitiveness in the entire Canadian pork complex. With these plans as a starting point FAR analyst Fiona Boal (New York) in her Industry Note finds that it is important for industry players to have strategies available to address the two mentioned inefficiencies within the context of an ever-changing global meat industry.
