Beyond the recession - IN 223 August 2009

While an end to the current recession - should it occur soon - may relieve some of the current intense price-sensitivity, consumers in the US are unlikely to return to pre-recession spending patterns quickly, says a new FAR report released today. Cost cutting and consumer analytics will likely take on a higher priority, consumer focused shelf-space allocation decisions may place pressure on the slotting fee model, and private label will likely maintain much of its recent gains.
