Planted Forests in Brazil - March 2010

Brazil’s forest-based industries are expected to grow strongly in the coming years as a result of their cost competitiveness combined with rising local and global demand for a variety of products. Considerable investment in establishing and maintaining planted forests will be required to feed this growth. In most industries dependent on such forests for raw material, there has been an increasing willingness to consider alternatives to outright ownership of forest resources. As a result, there are now increasing opportunities for financial investors to take a stake in Brazilian forestry.
