How shifting acreage on US farms might impact Australian prices

RaboResearch's North America head of crop research, Steve Nicholson, unpacks recent US acreage shifts, which moved prices. US wheat plantings in 2026 have hit the lowest level in over 100 years. Meanwhile, US cotton area has recovered from last year’s ten-year low but only marginally, and dryness might prevent more acres from being harvested than usual. The shocker for Australian farmers might be the jump in Canada’s canola acreage.
