Ultimately, we expect a well-balanced market in the US, as long as current policy remains in place, whereas Mexico will have to become a more active global sugar supplier, as its exportable surplus is likely to increase at a faster pace than US sugar needs. In the longer run, Mexico is expected to export more to the global market than to the US. Under this scenario and given the current structure of the market, many Mexican sugar and cane producers will face two critical challenges: how to grow and how to remain profitable.
