The consultation period will last around two months, until a final determination has been made. China’s retaliatory threat came quickly. Shortly after the announcement, China, in turn, announced that it plans to impose a 25% duty on 106 US products – soybeans and cotton, as well as high quality wheat, are on this list. The implementation date will depend on when the US imposes taxes on Chinese goods.
