Another year of high ware potato prices in northwestern Europe
The potato market in northwestern Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands) is hot. For the fourth season in a row, we expect potato price levels to remain above average. Consequently, prices of processed potato products will also remain elevated, as demand for fries and chips is still high The elevated price levels are sustained by the strong global demand for fries and chips, limitations to potato production and area expansion in northwestern Europe, and structurally higher risks and costs for potato farmers.
