Conversations about whether negotiations will escalate to conflagration have been tumultuous, but Trump is losing patience. “So we may have to take it a step further,” he said Thursday at a Board of Peace meeting in Washington, “or we may not. Maybe we’re going to make a deal [with Tehran]. You’re going to be finding out over the next, probably 10 days.” It could, of course, be sooner than that—perhaps even this weekend. And the US appears fully prepared to take military action if necessary, having moved significant military assets into the region—the most since the 2003 Iraq invasion.
