Bank of England: Is this a Mann's world?
The Bank of England raised Bank Rate by 25bp to 4.00%. The 8-1 vote was hawkish, with Mann backing a 50bp increase as she sees regime-shift risks. Despite stronger growth and inflation peaking at 4.9%, the rest of the MPC doesn't agree on that. We expect another 25bp in February unless energy pressures ease. Beyond that, second-round effects are key but so far conspicuously absent. This isn’t a Mann’s world yet.
