Commercial real estate
By 2050, the built environment has to be natural gas free and should emit 95% less carbon compared to 1990. This includes office buildings, but also schools, libraries and business parks. As a bank we have an influence our facilitating role for the built environment by financing, advising and cooperation. Key levers to achieve higher sustainability levels in our commercial real estate portfolio are applying minimal thresholds for energy labels or actual energy use in the credit policy for new to be financed assets and assets that require refinancing.
Our services
In 2022, 6,558 customers received online advice on our Raboduurzaamvastgoed.nl platform about making their offices more sustainable. More than 500 business customers contacted solar panel specialists from our partner Energieke Regio and received customized advice. More than 400 customers requested an energy label through our "Energy Labelling for Offices" campaign.
We are making business parks more sustainable through our "Green Deals" program with Energieke Regio, municipalities, and entrepreneurs.
As a partner of a project called "School Roof Revolution", we strive for a society in which all children can learn about solar energy as produced on the roofs of their own schools. We support School Roof Revolution by sharing our network and providing qualifying schools with special loans for energy saving measures.
We also developed an initiative with Univé and energy supplier Greenchoice to replace harmful asbestos roofs on farms with new roofs fitted with solar panels. Univé members pay a fair price for the green electricity from these roofs and part of the proceeds goes to new solar roofs.
We initiated the Zon-op-Dak (Solar-on-Roof) sales campaign in cooperation with Energieke Regio around the Subsidy for Renewable Energy Production, Stimuleringsregeling Duurzame Energieproductie (SDE). This campaign is designed to provide subsidies for businesses interested in solar panels and in applying for a subsidy through SDE++, a EUR 13 billion government fund for the transition to sustainable energy

Green Deal Pannenweert
The Municipality of Nederweert, Energie Handels Platform-Pannenweg II, Stichting Groene Economie Limburg and the cooperative Rabobank signed a Rabo Green Deal; a form of collaboration with the aim of helping entrepreneurs get started and stimulating developments in the field of energy transition, materials transition, climate adaptation and biodiversity. Rabobank contributes by sharing knowledge, connecting relevant networks and offering financial solutions in order to jointly contribute to a future-proof, green and climate-proof business park. Parties want to accelerate the transitions through measures and initiatives at both collective and individual level. In addition to the fact that entrepreneurs are obliged to take measures, investments in, for example, energy-saving measures provide substantial cost savings for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are provided with advice, insights, sustainability options and opportunities.
