A next phase: combining action, learning and wider change
Through this partnership, WWF and Rabobank aim to learn from experiences in areas where nature is under pressure. The lessons learned can then be applied to food value chains, financial decision-making and policy
How we aim to work
- Demonstrate in practice: Working in priority regions to test approaches under real conditions.
- Learn what enables change: Understanding where financial incentives, policies and practices support or hinder sustainable land use.
- Share lessons: Sharing insights through dialogue, advocacy and collaboration to help inform broader financial systems, standards and policies.
We focus our efforts on
And contribute and collaborate from our respective roles
WWF: shares its independent conservation expertise and assessment
Rabobank: shares its financial expertise, client relationships and sector reach
Together: we explore how finance can better support outcomes that reduce pressure on nature
With realism and ambition
Change depends on many actors beyond this partnership. WWF and Rabobank aim to contribute to this broader transition by testing approaches, sharing lessons and working with others across the system.

From action in landscapes to broader change: financing more sustainable land use in critical ecosystems
Deforestation and biodiversity loss are accelerating in some of the world’s most critical ecosystems, putting nature, food security and climate stability under growing pressure. At the same time, global food production remains essential to meeting growing demand and supporting livelihoods. In regions such as Brazil’s Amazon and Cerrado, ongoing deforestation and land conversion, closely linked to food production, continue to undermine ecosystems and increase the risk of irreversible damage. Scientists warn that parts of the Amazon may approach an irreversible tipping point within the next decade.
