Rabobank opens doors to food and agri companies in Turkey
On 3 November 2014, Rabobank Anonim Şirketi (Rabobank AŞ) will officially open its doors to wholesale clients active in the various stages of the food & agri (F&A) value chain.
Located in Istanbul, Rabobank AŞ will offer clients lending products and treasury products. The bank will also provide support and advice on the lending activities provided by other Rabo Group companies around the world.
'Rabobank expects to play a key role in the further development of the Turkish economy where the food & agri sector is hugely important,' says Guray Alpkaya, CEO Rabobank AŞ. Turkish agriculture supplies 9% of total Gross Value Added (GVA) and 25% of employment.
Rabobank had supported key food & agri companies in Turkey through its representative office for 15 years. The application for the banking licence was a logical next step.
Furthermore, Rabobank's international desk in Turkey has assisted 140 international companies over the past four years.
Through Rabobank's in-house research team, Food & Agribusiness Research (FAR), customers will be able to benefit from Rabobank's global experience and expertise in each and every stage of the food & agri value chain.
'With our expertise we can make a meaningful contribution towards its development being the first international food & agri bank to operate in the country,' Guray Alpkaya concludes.
