We present some titbits selected from the competing menus offered up at Chez Harris and Trump.

Food policy and issues specific to the food system rarely get a look-in when it comes to the US general election. They are not usually front-of-mind for the general public compared to the high-profile (though not unrelated) topics such as the economy, healthcare, and crime. This election cycle has provided a few more morsels than usual, but is still likely to leave many in the food industry unsatisfied and wanting more. Nevertheless, here are some titbits we have selected from the competing menus offered up at Chez Harris and Trump. What politicians actually serve up once elected to office remains to be seen. As my colleague, Vitor Pistoia, wisely warned in a recent note, food and agribusiness companies need to prepare their business strategies “for the myriad of possible outcomes ahead."
