Balance at the top

At Rabobank, we naturally strive to realize an equal distribution of men and women throughout every level of the organization. Around the same number of men and women work at our bank. We aim to get the best out of all of the available talent.

Within a large, multifaceted organization like Rabobank, it is vital that we have a good combination of both male and female characteristics, as both complement one another perfectly. We need both action and connection, results and sustainability, and independence and awareness of our surroundings.

Successful diversity policy

Over the past few years, we have made excellent strides when it comes to the proportion of men and women in leadership positions. Women make up 44% of our Board of Commissioners, the Group Board is 40% female, and 33% of all top managers are women. In 2014, we signed the Talent to the Top Charter, and in 2017 we received the Diamond Award from the Monitoring Talent to the Top Committee as an inspiring example of a successful diversity policy.

Promotion of flow

A number of measures have been taken to promote the flow of women within the organization. For example, the trainee programs and leadership programs must always consist of 50% women and men. Selection committees, which deal with appointments to the top, must also consist of at least 30% women. Various "empowerment programs" are offered that support women on aspects such as profiling, negotiating and networking. We also offer various mentoring and coaching programs that promote the transition to the top.

The power of our network: RaboWomen

RaboWomen is Rabobank’s internal women’s network. Its goal is to accelerate the development of women, and with them, the organization. RaboWomen emphasizes the importance of working in a diverse company, and therefore works to enhance the power of women in all of their diversity. The network organizes a wide range of activities each year. RaboWomen currently reaches 18,000 women working at Rabobank around the world.
